The Human Factors & Cognitive Engineering Lab at the Department of Emergency Medicine | Mass General Brigham | Harvard Medical School brings together a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, engineers, psychologists, computer scientists and educators, including collaborations with several scientists and institutions, nationally and internationally. The core mission of our research lab involves the application of cutting-edge technologies to understand and improve clinical performance, with the ultimate goal of enhancing patient safety and improving clinical outcomes in a variety of settings, including the emergency department, operating room, intensive care units, military field, and space. Our research projects have been funded by the NIH, AHRQ, NASA and DoD, using innovative methodologies, such as machine learning and artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality, and digital biomarkers captured through wearable physiological sensors.
